Floris de Gelder & Friso Smit share the story of Utrecht Science Park, the fastest growing science park in the Netherlands. The park’s companies do work in the fields of food…
The combination of knowledge and top-flight technology make the Utrecht Science Park (USP) a place of great interest for both domestic and international business. It’s an inspiring environment in which scientists and entrepreneurs enjoy optimal conditions for bundling their strengths. Being close together stimulates networking and the exchange of knowledge, which means everyone can develop new strengths. The USP was created to stimulate this cross-pollination between top knowledge and an entrepreneurial perspective.
Its prime aim is to grow by attracting companies and spinoffs that provide a powerful impulse for innovation. Importantly, the USP has a large and varied student population. These young, highly trained people mean the companies and other institutions located here have a well-trained, highly motivated workforce at their immediate disposal.
The initiators of the USP are Utrecht University, Utrecht University of Applied Sciences, University Medical Centre Utrecht, The City of Utrecht and Utrecht Province.
