Merck Republic of Korea Ltd. was founded in 1989 and established Merck Advanced Technologies Ltd. (MAT) in 2002 to better serve the Republic of Korean display industry. In the same year, an R&D and production center for liquid crystals and a warehouse were opened in Poseung.Earlier in 2009, Merck announced it is investing 14 billion Republic of Korean Won (? 11 million) to establish an Advanced Technology Center in Republic of Korea to improve it’s R&D and manufacturing capacities.
